Vol. 553 No. 2

Written Answers. - Departmental Properties.

Róisín Shortall

Question:

417 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Education and Science the details of each and every property outlined in an agreement (details supplied); the location, ownership and value in each case; the agency to which each has been transferred; the procedure by which the property which has yet to be transferred will be identified and valued; and the timescale for this proposed transfer. [13910/02]

As yet, my Department has not agreed to accept any property as part of the overall agreement to which the Deputy refers.

With regard to the properties already transferred, a number of potential properties have been suggested to my Department on behalf of the other parties to the agreement and these are currently being examined. The Valuation Office has been asked to assess valuations for these properties and to report back to my Department. When the examination and valuation processes have been completed, and agreement reached on the properties to be included, I will provide the Deputy with the details of the properties concerned.

For property yet to be transferred, the process involves the other parties identifying potential properties and providing the details to my Department. A list of potential properties has been supplied to my Department and these properties are being examined. The Valuation Office will undertake an assessment of the valuation of the properties and report back to my Department. In all of these cases the transferee will be a State body.

The agreement provides for the Department to reject any property proposed for inclusion by the other parties. Furthermore, where there is a shortfall in the value of properties, the balance must be made up by additional property, or by monetary transfer.
