Written Answers. - Local Authority Funding.

Mary Upton

Question:

649 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if his Department has provided funding to Dublin City Council for the purchase of apartments (details supplied) in Dublin 8; the cost of this transaction; and if his Department will consider issuing a public notice when such transactions are made. [13843/02]

My Department issued approval in May 2002 to the making of a loan of €19,138,884 by Dublin City Council to an approved voluntary housing organisation, the Oaklee Housing Trust, under the rental subsidy scheme in respect of the provision of 76 units of general housing accommodation and communal facilities. A further loan of €2,540,800 was approved under the capital assistance scheme for 16 units of special needs accommodation to be provided as part of this project. Details of these approvals will be appropriately publicised by Dublin City Council.
