347 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of on the spot fines issued by the Garda for speeding offences in 2000, 2001 and 2002 to date, per Garda division; the amount of money collected in each division in this regard in the respective years; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14558/02]
I have been informed by the Garda authorities that the number of on the spot fines issued by An Garda Síochána for speeding offences as per Garda division for the years 2000, 2001 and 2002 up to the end of March are shown in the following table. The statistics for 2001 and 2002 are provisional. I have been further informed by the Garda authorities that a breakdown of the amount of money collected in each Garda division in respect of these fines is not readily available.
