Vol. 553 No. 6

Written Answers. - Special Educational Needs.

Willie Penrose

Question:

185 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Education and Science if his Department has received an application from a school on behalf of a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath for the provision of individual assistance for this person as the school does not have a language or resource teacher to facilitate him in his needs, which have been set out in various assessments; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14968/02]

My officials have made contact with the school authorities in question. They have confirmed that they are currently in the process of submitting an application for resource teaching support to cater for the person referred to by the Deputy. When the application is received and considered, my Department will be in further contact with the school authorities.
