Vol. 553 No. 6

Written Answers. - Veterinary Medicines.

Denis Naughten

Question:

129 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food further to Parliamentary Question No. 233 of 20 March 2002, the plans he intends to implement with regard to intramammary antibiotic medicines; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14936/02]

My Department has been engaged in considering how best to give effect to the Irish Medicines Board recommendations, given that it is recognised in the IMB report that the existing legislative arrangements governing prescriptions could not be applied to intramammaries. As part of this process my Department is engaged in an extensive consultative process with interested parties. I am anxious to bring this process to completion as soon as possible so that the necessary legislative changes can be made to give effect to the IMB recommendations.
