Brendan Howlin

Question:

195 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism the role the Office of Public Works will play in the implementation of the commitment given in An Agreed Programme for Government in regard to the construction of a world class national stadium; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14495/02]

An Agreed Programme for Government, which contains a commitment to start work on the construction of a world class national stadium, also states that the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism, in conjunction with Campus and Stadium Ireland Development Limited, CSID, the national sporting bodies and the Office of Public Works will bring forward the plans and implementation proposals for this project in the most cost effective way, as soon as possible. In that context, the Office of Public Works will continue to provide technical advice and assistance for my Department in relation to the project and will also continue to facilitate CSID by providing the services of a chief executive officer.
