Written Answers. - Flood Prevention.

Denis Naughten

Question:

409 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Finance following the meeting between the Minister of State at his Department and the IFA on 4 July 2002, his plans to implement the proposals outlined to the Minister of State to address flooding on the River Shannon. [16021/02]

I undertook at the meeting referred to by the Deputy to have the issue examined in detail by the Office of Public Works in order to establish a basis for a more detailed study of the Shannon flooding problem with particular reference to the IFA proposals.

I expect to receive the report shortly and I will be arranging an early meeting with the IFA to discuss the matter further.
