Vol. 554 No. 5

Written Answers. - Tax Allowances.

Pat Carey

Question:

439 Mr. Carey asked the Minister for Finance the reason a person (details supplied) in Dublin 11 cannot be granted a tax allowance in respect of their spouse; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17097/02]

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that they have no record of having received a claim from the taxpayer for the married tax credit in respect of her husband. The inspector of taxes has written to the taxpayer seeking the information needed to determine whether the taxpayer is eligible for the married tax credit. When the information is received, the inspector will process the taxpayer's claim as quickly as possible.
