Vol. 554 No. 5

Written Answers. - Special Educational Needs.

Denis Naughten

Question:

664 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Education and Science if, in view of correspondence (details supplied) he will increase the remuneration paid to escorts on special education school buses; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16629/02]

Denis Naughten

Question:

675 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Education and Science if his Department will ensure that escorts on special school buses will have their remuneration increased in line with the level of payment made to second-level supervisors; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16786/02]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 664 and 675 together.

My Department provides grant aid to boards of management of special schools and classes to enable the provision of escorts on special needs transport services.

I have no proposals at present to increase the current level of grant-aid.
