Vol. 554 No. 5

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Mary Upton

Question:

1297 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Transport the individual non-governmental organisations funded or grant aided under the various schemes run by his Department; the amount provided; and the purpose for which it was provided, in the last full year for which information is available. [16724/02]

The only such scheme is the rural transport initiative RTI, which is administered by Area Development Management on behalf of my Department.

The purpose of the RTI is to promote and support the development of innovative, community-based pilot public transport projects in rural areas. It is envisaged that my Department will provide ADM with €3 million for the funding of this initiative in 2002, the first full year of its operation. It is my intention to have further discussion with ADM on this scheme.
