Vol. 555 No. 2

Adjournment Debate. - Speech Therapy Service.

John Deasy

Question:

307 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason no replacement speech and language therapist has been provided for St. John's special school, Dungarvan, County Waterford, despite previous assurances given by the South Eastern Health Board; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18166/02]

Responsibility for the provision of services to persons with an intellectual disability and those with autism in the Waterford area is a matter for the South Eastern Health Board. My Department has, therefore, asked the chief executive officer of the South Eastern Health Board to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and reply to him directly.
