Vol. 555 No. 2

Adjournment Debate. - Hospitals Building Programme.

John Deasy

Question:

308 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Health and Children the progress which has been made in providing a replacement hospital for the district hospital, Dungarvan, County Waterford; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18167/02]

The provision of health services in County Waterford is a matter for the South Eastern Health Board. I understand that the board has set aside an amount of €2.764 million for the proposed development of St. Vincent's Hospital, Dungarvan, from the indicative funding notified under the national development plan.

A project team has been established by the South Eastern Health Board for the proposed development at St. Vincent's Hospital. The project team submitted a planning brief to my Department which required clarification in a number of areas. I understand that a revised plan, along with an application to appoint a design team, is currently being examined by my Department.
