Vol. 555 No. 3

Written Answers. - Public Private Partnerships.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Question:

210 Mrs. B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Health and Children if he proposes to seek and approve further public private partnerships in the Southern Health Board area; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18560/02]

The Southern Health Board is currently implementing a pilot public private partnership initiative which will provide 400 additional beds at eight community nursing units throughout the health board's region.

All health boards-authorities, including the Southern Health Board, have been asked to identify services and provide an outline proposal for projects which may be appropriate for a PPP. After the initial pilot projects begin to demon strate success, consideration will be given to expanding the pilot projects to other service areas.
