Vol. 555 No. 3

Written Answers. - Proposed Legislation.

John Deasy

Question:

248 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the proposals he has to introduce legislation to amend the Gaming and Lotteries Act, 1956, which was promised by his predecessor in June 2000; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18604/02]

The preparation of legislation to implement the report of the interdepartmental group on the review of the Gaming and Lotteries Act, 1956-68 is included in the Government's legislative programme and a Bill is likely to be published next year. A number of policy issues considered in the report are, however, being reviewed at present in the context of regulatory reform and, in particular, regulatory impact assessment.
