Vol. 555 No. 5

Written Answers. - Residential Institutions Redress Board.

Jim O'Keeffe

Question:

200 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Education and Science when he expects to formally establish the Residential Institutions Redress Board. [18968/02]

The Residential Institutions Redress Act, 2002, provides for the establishment of the Residential Institutions Redress Board.

To date I have appointed four members to the board: the chairperson, Judge Kieran O'Connor, Dr. Helen Cummiskey, Professor Desmond Greer and Dr. Ruth Pilkington. Further appointments to the board will be made as required. Office accommodation has been secured for the board at Clonskeagh, Dublin 4.

In consultation with a number of interested parties the board is developing an application form and a guide to the application procedure. When this process has been completed I will move immediately to formally establish the board.
