Vol. 555 No. 5

Written Answers. - National Roads Authority.

Arthur Morgan

Question:

329 Mr. Morgan asked the Minister for Transport if the National Roads Authority is subject to the line by line scrutiny of proposed spending by the three man committee of outside experts which the Department of Finance has appointed to vet departmental expenditure. [18952/02]

The funding for the National Roads Authority is provided by way of a block grant from my Department in respect of national road improvements and maintenance, together with a grant in respect of its administrative expenses. These moneys form part of my Department's Vote and are subject to the examination by the three-man committee of outside experts appointed by the Department of Finance.
