Vol. 555 No. 5

Written Answers. - Garda Stations.

Tony Gregory

Question:

341 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will request the Garda to review or reverse the decision to close Cabra Garda station at night time in view of the widespread concern among local residents arising from this decision; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18824/02]

I have been informed by the Garda authorities that there are currently no plans to close Cabra Garda station at night time. The optimum use of Garda stations in the Dublin area is being considered as part of a major review of the Garda organisational structures under the strategic management initiative programme of modernisation. That review is not yet completed. On completion, the review will be submitted for consideration by Government.
