398 Mr. Gogarty asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if it is intended to extend the remit of the Flood Tribunal to cover suspected planning abuses and payments to politicians in County Louth. [19349/02]

The Tribunal of Inquiry into Certain Planning Matters and Payments is empowered by resolutions passed by Dáil Éireann and Seanad Éireann on 7 and 8 October 1997 respectively, to investigate all improper payments made to politicians in connection with the planning process.
