Question:414 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Social and Family Affairs the total amount of claims lodged with her Department for solicitors fees and total legal costs. [18893/02]

Fees arise where compensation claims are taken against the Department either by staff or members of the public. In 2001 one said claim was finalised and fees of £4,733.05, €6009.73, were paid. In 2002 to date nine claims were finalised in respect of which fees of €44,993.90 were paid.
