Vol. 556 No. 5

Written Answers. - Mental Handicap Services.

Tony Killeen

Question:

152 Mr. Killeen asked the Minister for Health and Children the extent of the funding provided by his Department or the health boards towards the cost of a residential development for people with intellectual disabilities (details enclosed); and if funding has been provided by his Department towards the cost of a residential unit for people with intellectual disabilities. [20939/02]

Funding was provided to the Daughters of Charity Services, St Vincent's Centre Lisnagry, Limerick, in recent years to provide additional residential facilities, including facilities for persons with an intellectual disability formerly accommodated in St Joseph's Psychiatric Hospital, Limerick. As responsibility for the provision of funding to the services in question rests with the Mid-Western Health Board, my Department has asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and reply directly to him.
