Billy Timmins

Question:

335 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources the number of lobby groups or public relations firms he or his Department has met with to discuss issues of impending legislation since the formation of the Government; the issues on which they lobbied; if this resulted in changes or amendments; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21647/02]

I and my Department have met a number of sporting bod ies, including the FAI, the GAA, the IRFU, the Irish Sports Council, the International Rugby Board and the Association of Irish Racecourses, in connection with the proposal to amend the Broadcasting (Major Events Television Coverage) Act, 1999. The heads of the proposed Bill have not yet been drafted.
