Question:202 Ms O'Sullivan asked the Minister for Education and Science the position regarding the proposal to appoint community educational facilitators under the White Paper on Adult Education - Learning for Life. [21787/02]

My Department has recently authorised the vocational education committees to proceed with the filling of 34 posts of community education facilitators nation-wide. The vocational education committees are now in the process of doing so. The role of the facilitators is to promote the development of community education, to network groups, help them access funds, support quality and promote partnerships between the community and statutory sectors.
