Vol. 557 No. 2

Written Answers. - Youth Services.

Róisín Shortall

Question:

274 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs the reason for the delay in announcing Phase 2 of the Young People's Facilities Services Fund; when he will be doing so; the total value of the fund; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21876/02]

The National Assessment Committee of the Young Peoples Facilities and Services Fund, which is chaired by my Department, is currently examining capital proposals submitted by the Development Groups under round II of the fund. With respect to services projects, the committee is awaiting the completion of the external evaluation, which is due shortly, before seeking such proposals under round II.

Decisions on round II of the fund will be taken in the context of the 2003 Estimates. To date, funding of €68 million, out of a total of €149.65 million available under the National Development Plan, has been allocated under the fund.
