Vol. 557 No. 6

Written Answers. - Hospitals Building Programme.

Paul Connaughton

Question:

166 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Health and Children if money has been allocated in the 2002 Estimates towards the design and cost of the building of the Tuam Community Hospital, County Galway; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23026/02]

In November, 2001, my Department made available a capital grant of £3 million to enable the Western Health Board purchase the former Bon Secours Hospital (The Grove), in Tuam, County Galway, plus grounds and some adjoining land, for the purpose of building a 60 bed community hospital. This project is being considered in the context of the national development plan funding available to my Department and the Western Health Board.
