179 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children if an angioplasty at St. James's Hospital, Dublin, will be expedited for a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny; the reason a promise of an appointment on 22 November 2002 and 29 November 2002 was not fulfilled; and if this person who has spent one month in St. Luke's Hospital, Kilkenny, will now be given the treatment they urgently require. The provision of hospital services for people living in County Kilkenny is a matter, in the first instance, for the South Eastern Health Board.

My Department has asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and to reply directly to him.

180 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny is waiting since June 2002 for an urgent operation at Beaumont Hospital; and if he will investigate this person's case and expedite an appointment. [23944/02]

181 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children further to Parliamentary Question No. 327 of 19 November 2002, the length of time the process to recruit a private practitioner will take; when it started; the number of persons or companies contacted since January 2002 in an attempt to find such a person; if there is now a short list; and if so, the timeframe within which a decision will be made; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As this is a matter for the South Eastern Health Board, my Department has requested the chief executive officer of the board to reply directly to the Deputy.
