Vol. 558 No. 2

Written Answers. - Road Freight Licence.

John McGuinness

Question:

194 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Transport the reason there is such a delay in renewing a road haulage licence for a company (details supplied) in County Kilkenny; and if the application can be expedited in view of the size and importance of the company and the difficulty the current situation is for the company. [23975/02]

On 26 August 2002 the operator was notified that his road freight carriers licence would fall due for renewal on 13 November 2002. The Department received a correctly completed application on 5 November 2002 and a road freight carriers licence was issued on 19 November 2002. In accordance with my Department's customer charter, the application was processed without undue delay and the operator was facilitated, at his request, in collecting the licence at the public office.
