Vol. 558 No. 2

Written Answers. - Outdoor Events.

Tony Gregory

Question:

226 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the licence approval required for the holding of concert events in the Phoenix Park, Dublin 7. [23839/02]

Two authorisations are required by a promoter in order to hold a concert in the Phoenix Park.

The first is a statutory licence under part 16 of the Planning and Development Regulations, 2001, which requires that the promoter submit an event management plan to the appropriate local authority, in this case Dublin City Council, 16 weeks prior to an event and which is subject to a public consultation process.

The second authorisation is from my Department in accordance with the policy framework issued in May 1997 in relation to the use of the Phoenix Park for large scale public cultural, musical and heritage events. I am arranging for a copy of this policy framework to be forwarded to the Deputy.
