Vol. 558 No. 2

Written Answers. - Milk Quota.

Michael Ring

Question:

119 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he has met the Milk Quota Rights Group recently; the decision he has come to on this matter; when the Government expects to make a decision on this matter; and when these people will receive compensation. [24055/02]

Officials of my Department met the officers of the Milk Quota Rights Group last month.

Work on the allocation of the balance of the Agenda 2000 milk quota to certain categories of small and medium scale milk producers has now been completed and all applicants will be notified of the outcome in their own cases in the coming week. Almost 6,500 applications were received under this scheme and of these approximately 1,700 were eligible for an allocation of quota. The quantities of quota allocated in individual cases will vary considerably as they are based on the specifics of each application. Allocations made under this scheme may be used to cover milk delivered during the current quota year.
