Vol. 558 No. 2

Written Answers. - School Accommodation.

Olwyn Enright

Question:

133 Ms Enright asked the Minister for Education and Science the progress which has been made in providing a metalwork and technology classroom, a computer room and a science room for Malahide community school; when they can expect progress in the matter; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23915/02]

On 12 August 2002 my Department approved funding for the conversion of existing classrooms at Malahide community school for use as a technology room and a computer room. Prefabricated temporary accommodation has been provided in lieu of the rooms that were converted.

Regarding the provision of a science room, the school authority has been informed that it is not proposed to provide science facilities on a temporary basis. The school will have its full entitlement of science facilities in the new school building, which is proceeding through architectural planning.
