Vol. 558 No. 4

Written Answers. - Rail Network.

Dan Neville

Question:

341 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for Transport, further to Parliamentary Question No. 386 of 19 November 2002, if he will define care and maintenance on the railway line between Limerick and Foynes. [24283/02]

I am informed by Irish Rail that "care and maintenance" is the term it uses to describe a process which requires it to take care of property on the line and comply with all its statutory responsibilities in relation to the line. It informs me that it carries out essential maintenance in order to meet these obligations and maintain the essential railway infrastructure.
