Vol. 558 No. 4

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Willie Penrose

Question:

178 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the grant aid which may be available to persons who wish to erect equestrian arenas which would have an educational content; the nature and type of grants available for such a project; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24582/02]

My Department makes grant aid available to farmers for investment in housing-handling facilities for horses under the scheme of investment aid in alternative enterprises. Horse lunging and exercise areas are among the investment items eligible for grant aid, with or without a special all weather surface. However, enclosed equestrian arenas are not an eligible item for grant aid under the scheme.
