Vol. 559 No. 1

Written Answers. - Great Southern Hotels.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Question:

372 Ms B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Transport if he will meet trade union representatives of a hotel group (details supplied) to discuss the future of the group; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25865/02]

I refer the Deputy to my earlier reply of 16 October 2002 to Parliamentary Question No. 97 on this matter.

While the board of the Great Southern Hotels group recently decided to dispose of the Torc hotel, one of its two hotels in Killarney, there are no proposals at this time for the sale of any other hotel in the group and the position which I outlined on 16 October remains unchanged.

When, I have an opportunity to revisit the future of the Great Southern Hotels group, I will take account of the views of the stakeholders concerned and in that context, I would meet the union representatives of the employees involved at the appropriate time.
