Written Answers. - Environmental Policy.

Eamon Gilmore

Question:

431 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he envisages a public consultation process in the review of the Heritage Act, 1995, currently under way in his Department; if so, when this will take place; and the form this consultation will take to ensure the maximum participation by the voluntary sector in this review of the Act. [25893/02]

The national heritage plan, published in April 2002, provided for a review of the Heritage Act 1995. This is now being pursued, in association with a wider review of Dúchas which transferred to my Department in July 2002. Full consideration will be given to the most appropriate and effective means of consultation with the voluntary sector and other interested stakeholders on the review of the Act.
