Adjournment Debate Matters.

I advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Cowley – the decision by the Independent Estimates Review Committee to propose the elimination of the Western Development Commission; (2) Deputy Boyle – to ask the Minister for the Environment and Local Government to comment on the co-treatment of domestic waste water that runs off transit vehicles which have carried toxic and chemical materials, a practice that is set to occur for the first time in this country at the waste water treatment plant at Fermoy, County Cork; (3) Deputy Durkan – the issue of the failure of the South-Western Area Health Board to adequately respond by way of assistance in respect of arrears of mortgage in the case of a woman (details supplied) who has been separated for the past four years and to ask if the Minister is aware of her situation; (4) Deputy Deenihan – the urgent need to appoint a design team to move forward the construction of the community hospital at Tralee, County Kerry; (5) Deputy Pat Breen – to ask the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources to consider putting in place a compensation package for fishermen in Quilty, County Clare whose boats and equipment were lost and damaged during the recent severe weather conditions; (6) Deputy Eamon Ryan – that the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment address the disturbing revelations concerning a possible cartel operating within the dairy industry and indicate what measures the Minister and her Department are taking to protect the Irish consumer from such a cartel; (7) Deputy Hayes – the need for the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment to address the jobs crisis at Ranbaxy Ireland Ltd., Cashel, County Tipperary where there is a proposal to lay off 35 employees and the consequences of such action for an area like Cashel; (8) Deputy Gogarty – the need for the Minister for the Environment and Local Government to suspend the designation of Adamstown as a strategic development zone pending a full investigation into the controversial rezoning of the lands in 1998 and the role played therein by developers, lobbyists, councillors and council officials in south Dublin as well as an examination into matters pertaining to Adamstown's subsequent designation as a strategic development zone.

The matters raised by Deputies Eamon Ryan, Hayes, Cowley and Durkan have been selected for discussion.
