Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Enda Kenny

Question:

197 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Education and Science when a special school (details supplied) in County Mayo will be provided in the context of guarantees given; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26413/02]

Architectural planning for the provision of improved accommodation at the schools referred to by the Deputy is at an early stage. I intend to announce my Department's expenditure proposals in relation to school buildings in January. In the meantime it is not possible to say when individual projects will proceed to tender and construction.

Phil Hogan

Question:

198 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Education and Science if money has been approved for Scoil Mhuire Secondary School, Ballingarry, Thurles, County Tipperary; if so, when work will commence; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26424/02]

Officials in the building unit of my Department are currently examining a stage 2 submission for an extension project at the school in question. When this examination is complete, if everything is in order, a decision will be taken regarding progressing the project to the next stage of architectural planning once budgetary issues for 2003 have been finalised.
