Vol. 559 No. 6

Written Answers. - School Accommodation.

Paul Nicholas Gogarty

Question:

145 Mr. Gogarty asked the Minister for Education and Science the reason St. Finian's national school, Newcastle, has been granted a resource teacher but has not been allowed to provide a room or resources to purchase equipment; if this situation is likely to change; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26977/02]

A funding allocation will be made to the school in question early in the new year to facilitate the purchase of equipment for the resource teacher.

My Department has received an application from the school for temporary accommodation, furniture and equipment. A decision on this application will be conveyed to the board of management as soon as possible having regard to the funds available in 2003 for such projects.
