I will detail the information sought by the Deputy on a sectoral basis.
With regard to the marine, lands and buildings at the five fishery harbour centres at Howth, Dunmore East, Castletownbere, Killybegs and Rossaveel are in the ownership of the Department. The properties are in use for purposes associated with the operations of these harbours as provided for in section 6 of the Fisheries and Foreshore (Amendment) Act, 1998. The only property to be disposed of is at Killybegs fishery harbour centre, where a site measuring 0.87 acres is being sold to Donegal County Council for the construction of a fire station.
In addition, Irish coastguard coastal units are located in the fishery harbour centres. These units are on 24 hour call out for marine emergencies. There are no proposals for disposal of these properties.
The Department is also responsible, through the Foreshore Acts, 1933 to 1998, for State owned foreshore. Leases and licences have been granted in respect of areas of the foreshore. They cover a wide range of uses including public infrastructure development, marinas, wind farms and aquaculture. The freehold interest in State owned foreshore is sold in limited circumstances only and such property is not generally available for disposal. There are no proposals to dispose of any of these buildings or lands.
With regard to mining, part of the former mine site at Avoca, County Wicklow, comprising some 75 acres, is vested in the Minister under the Forestry Act (Designated Land) Instrument, 1988. These lands contain open pits, spoil heaps, derelict buildings and mine shafts from different eras of mine development. At present there are no plans to sell this property, much of which is fenced off for safety reasons.
The following tabular statement details the lands in the ownership of my Department's forestry service with an indication of their present use and availability for disposal.
An Post occupies the General Post Office, O'Connell Street, Dublin, under the terms of a licence granted by the Minister for a period of 50 years from 1 January 1984. The building is not available for disposal.
