170 Ms McManus asked the Minister for Health and Children if his attention has been drawn to the findings of the service review carried out by the health board on the Gheel Centre for the mentally handicapped in Fairview, Dublin; if the recommendations will be acted upon; and if this centre will be retained in the ownership of the relevant health board. My Department is aware of the report mentioned by the Deputy. Additional funding amounting to €200,000 is being made available by my Department in 2003 to assist the Eastern Regional Health Authority to implement some of the recommendations which were made. Issues relating to the governance of the agency in question are a matter in the first instance for the authority. My Department has asked its chief executive officer to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and reply directly to her.
