Question:

227 Ms M. Wallace asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the funding provided by the equal opportunities child care programme during 2002 on a county by county basis; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27018/02]

As the Deputy is aware, under the national development plan, the equal opportunities child care programme 2000-06 will provide almost €437 million for the development of the child care services in Ireland. The funding is from the Government and the European Union. The total amount of funding allocated in 2002 to date is €66,575,381, which includes €88,004 allocated to a cross-Border innovative child care project.
