Vol. 559 No. 6

Written Answers. - Registration of Title.

Cecilia Keaveney

Question:

228 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the current position in relation to a land registry application for a person (details supplied) in County Donegal; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27019/02]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this is an application for a Land Commission vesting order which was lodged on 22 June 1994 – schedule 92444 refers. Land Commission schedule applications are deemed to be registered as of the date of vesting, which is prior to the date of lodgement of the documents in the Land Registry. Accordingly, registration in the Land Registry of Land Commission cases is afforded a lower priority than the registration of other dealings.

I am further informed that queries were issued to the lands division of the Department of Agriculture and Food on 29 July 1998 and that the application cannot proceed until these queries have been satisfactorily resolved. However, I can assure the Deputy that on receipt of a satisfactory reply, the matter will receive further attention in the Land Registry.
