Question:251 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs the position regarding the pier at Inishturk; if funding has been made available for it; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26959/02]

Funding of €291,156 has been approved by my Department to enable Mayo County Council to prepare both a preliminary report and contract documents for the development of improved harbour facilities on Inishturk.
This preparatory work has now been completed by the council and the progression of the project to tender stage is currently under consideration by my Department in the context of other applications on hand and the overall funding available for the development of the islands.
