Vol. 559 No. 6

Written Answers. - University Examinations.

Eamon Ryan

Question:

67 Mr. Eamon Ryan asked the Minister for Education and Science the reason fourth year students at Dublin City University were repeatedly told that a subject called science and society was non-examinable, although files obtained under Freedom of Information indicate that management knew all along it was examinable. [26620/02]

Paul Nicholas Gogarty

Question:

70 Mr. Gogarty asked the Minister for Education and Science the reason students in DCU were offered extra marks in an exam to give evidence against a person (details supplied). [26615/02]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 67 and 70 together.

As the Deputy is aware, the Universities Act, 1997 confers autonomous statutory responsibilities on universities in relation to the day-to-day management of their affairs. I have no information in relation to the issue raised by the Deputy.
