68 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Education and Science the proposed new appeals system for the recognition of new primary schools; when the new system will be in place; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26709/02]
I intend to introduce an appeals facility as part of a more comprehensive procedure for dealing with applications for the recognition of new primary schools. The new procedure is based on recommendations made by the commission on school accommodation and will apply to applications seeking recognition from September 2003 onwards. I expect the appeals facility to be in place early in 2003.
