Vol. 560 No. 1

Written Answers. - Rural Environment Protection Scheme.

Jack Wall

Question:

244 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the position regarding an application for a REP scheme, area aid application, by a person (details supplied) in County Louth; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1624/03]

The person named has completed his contract in the first REP scheme and has received all his payments. Issues have subsequently arisen in relation to eligibility for payment of some for the lands included in his plan, and these have been the subject of correspondence. My Department wrote to him on 22 January 2003 requesting additional information about documentation relating to ownership that he had supplied, and asking him to reply by 18 March 2003. My Department would hope to finalise matters when the reply is received.

My Department's area aid unit also wrote to the person named on 26 November 2002 and again on 9 January 2003, requesting proof of entitlement to a land parcel he has claimed as part of his 2002 area aid application. To date no proof of entitlement has been received.
