Vol. 560 No. 1

Written Answers. - Sports Funding.

Charlie O'Connor

Question:

582 Mr. O'Connor asked the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism if he is working with South Dublin County Council to ensure the proper completion and future management of the Jobstown all-weather pitch, Tallaght, Dublin 24; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that this facility could be especially worthwhile for this community; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1531/03]

I understand from my colleague, the Minister for Community Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, Deputy Ó Cuív, that his Department, through the national assessment committee for its young people's facilities and services fund, YPFSF, is in discussions with South Dublin County Council about the completion and future management of the facility, as €444,408 was allocated to the project under the YPFSF.

The project, under the name of South Dublin Urban Initiative Limited, Jobstown, was also provisionally allocated a grant of €152,369 under the 2000 sports capital programme administered by my Department towards the development of the all-weather facility. My Department is in contact with the community services unit of South Dublin County Council with regard to facilitating the draw-down of this grant.
