Vol. 560 No. 1

Written Answers. - Consultant Appointments.

Dan Neville

Question:

718 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for Health and Children when appointment of a consultant rheumatologist will be made at the Mid-Western Regional Hospital, Limerick. [1796/03]

The provision of services at the Mid-Western Regional Hospital, Limerick, including the appointment of medical staff, is the responsibility of the Mid-Western Health Board. Comhairle na nOspidéal approved the permanent appointment of a consultant rheumatologist at its meeting on 20 November 2002. I understand that the board is currently processing a permanent appointment for submission to the Local Appointments Commission. Comhairle also approved a temporary position pending the appointment of a consultant on a permanent basis. This temporary position will be advertised shortly.
