Vol. 560 No. 1

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

Michael Ring

Question:

993 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Social and Family Affairs the reason a person (details supplied) in County Mayo has been refused the fuel allowance. [1351/03]

To qualify for fuel allowance the household must not have earned a combined income greater than the maximum weekly rate of contributory old pension plus €50.79 per week.

As the household income, comprising retirement pension in payment to the person concerned and his spouse's farm retirement pension, is greater than the household income allowed for the purposes of this scheme, his application for fuel allowance had to be refused.
