Vol. 560 No. 2

Written Answers. - Public Transport.

Dan Boyle

Question:

82 Mr. Boyle asked the Minister for Transport his views on the recommendations of the recent Steer Davies Gleave consultants' report which propose a public transport model that has been seen to fail in the United Kingdom; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2262/03]

I published the report in question on 14 November 2002 as it was presented to me by Steer Davies Gleave and invited views on it from interested parties. On publication I said that neither the Government nor I had taken any view on the content of the report and that I was publishing it without commitment. I will give detailed consideration to the recommendations put forward in the report and to the submissions from interested parties before presenting my proposals for regulation of the bus market outside Dublin.
