Vol. 561 No. 4

Written Answers. - Job Creation.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

209 Mr. Durkan asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the number of jobs created on a monthly basis in 1997 and 2002; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [4763/03]

The issue of job creation is a day-to-day operational issue for the industrial development agencies and is one in which I have no direct function. Job creation figures for those agencies are gathered on an annual basis through Forfás and are not collected on a monthly basis. A tabular statement, based on figures supplied through Forfás, of gross job gains by those agencies – Enterprise Ireland, IDA Ireland, Shannon Development, and Enterprise Boards – for the years 1997 to 2002 follows.

1999

48,071

2000
