210 Mr. Durkan asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the number of applications for the renewal of work permits which have been rejected in the past 12 months; the corresponding number for the previous 12 month period; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Data in relation to work permits renewals for the past 12 months and the previous 12 months is as follows.

Applications for renewal of work permits are normally granted where the pay and conditions of the employee are in compliance with current employment rights legislation and in accordance with the terms offered by the employer to the employee.
